So I had watched this show a little bit at its original air time in 2018–19, but at that time I was super busy with my studies, which is why I couldn't follow it. All I remember was that it had the same trope as Anupama of an Indian housewife who is cheated on by her husband, and then an inspector, Hanuman Singh, came into her life. All these years, I just remembered that Hanuman Singh was a funny guy with a Haryanvi accent.

But after rewatching Jodha Akbar, I again became fond of Paridhi Sharma and started watching this drama, Patiala Babes, and I am speechless. I have not seen a show much more emotional than this. There were times when I myself felt like crying for the characters.

 I don't know whether it was because of its excellent music, its amazing screenplay, or its story. I don't know, but I have only felt like crying for a TV scene for the third time. The first was when I watched KKKG as a kid. I don't know why, but I felt very emotional at the climax scene that time. The second was when Katappa stabbed Bahubali, and the third is now, for this show.

I will write very much, so for headings and framing, I am taking help from ChatGPT this time, but all the words and feelings will be mine only.

So this time, I won't count the stronghold of this show because that would be an insult to it. This time, I would just have a character sketch of some characters and some scenes which I liked.

Patiala Babes: More Than a Show, An Emotional Journey

1. Babita: A Woman Who Always Feared Society

So firstly, starting with Babita, the lead.

Babita is a woman who, at her core, always fears society and craves society's acceptance very much. She was shown as independent in between Ashok and Hanuman, but when she married Hanuman, she again went back into her cocoon despite many efforts by both Hanuman and Mini.

Babita was absolutely right in her anger and disappointment towards her in-laws because it is a truth that whether Dadu and Biji were good people or not, they never treated Babita as their daughter in front of Lovely. Lovely was never questioned for her actions, whether it was in the case of Babita or after Meeta as well. Lovely always straightaway hurt and troubled her sister-in-law, as she always had this thought in her mind that she was the insider and the daughter-in-law was always an outsider.

So babita's anger was all justified on her in laws in the wedding cd scene.

 But after that babita just wasted all the efforts mini put on her. She lost the true essence of life and just because she was craving for love she forgot that love liberates not isolated but she again after being wedded with Hanuman tried to fit in that so called society which she challanged at time of seperation from Ashok.

 She tried to control life of both Hanuman and mini which was wrong. She was fully right to expect from Hanuman that he have to accept Mini as your daughter but you can not force this type of delicate relationship on anybody. Infact babita also played a part in ruining the relationship of mini and hanuman.

 But this shows the reality of society and life and people around us. 

I know people think witers butchered babita's character to make Mini the lead in future but I think they didn't butchered her they showed that babita was always like that only. For her love was secondary but society acceptance was first. She always feared what will people say and so in this new setup her behaviour was totally according to her character it was never felt strange. 

We can also say her straight away selfish and cruel to Mini and hanuman but it was her core programming. She was always like this.

 Infact now coming to the point of her relationship with Ashok, Ashok rightfully stated that she never herself demanded to stay with Ashok because it doesn't go well with the societal expectations of a daughter in law in India. 

She always expected any other person to take hardships and societal blames for her whether it was mini or ashok or her in laws but she was always very image conscious lady.

2. Mini: The Perfect Daughter

Now coming to Mini.

 She was perfect yaar. Mini was perfect.

 Infact it was unfair with her that due to babita Hanuman become somewhat wrong to her and also due to babita she had to suffer so much. If there was no mickey Preet and Bobby than she would not survive. 

She was the only character that did nothing wrong just one thing she did wrong that was slapping arya when she demanded her 3rd wish from neel that neel and mini should get married

 Because this is the same thing that Hanuman once told babita that whatever kammo taunts her is somewhat true babita and hanuman from very beginning shared a special bond that was somewhat strange from friendship there was a tension, there was a awkwardness in their bond but babita thought that if she will admit it than society would again say that babita is no different from Ashok

 But she was fool as what Ashok did was cheating but babita when she met Hanuman was separated and every single person have a right to mingle. 

So similarly both mini and neel knew that they share something special but when arya addressed it first time and only time in show Mini did wrong by not accepting the truth by forgetting about society but she chose to close Arya's mouth by slapping her.

3. Hanuman: A Good Man With One Mistake

Now coming to Hanuman. 

He was a nice man. He did nothing wrong in loving babita and marrying her but he was at fault for deceiving babita that he will become father of mini. 

He should always be clear from starting that they will share only the relation of Hanuman uncle and veer balika. He can never be the father of a 18 year old girl in a single moment. 

So he should also not promised her as this was just his trick to impress babita. 

I am not saying he didn't loved mini infact he understood mini more than babita and he loved her but it was very difficult and i would say yes it is next to impossible for any body at that stage to have a father daughter relationship

Because yes you can marry and remarry as many times you want but you only have one father in life time. 

In fact it was more difficult for mini to have Hanuman uncle as father than for Hanuman to have mini as his daughter. 

So yes this was the only mistake of Hanuman rest he was a very sensible man, leaving this he was honest and he was a blessing for babita.

4. Ashok: A Bad Husband and Father

Now coming to Ashok. 

Yes he was straight away bad.. he was bad both for babita and meeta and also with mini.

 But it was unfair with mini that she never got to have a convo with her father because babita was never this mature and secure to let this happen. 

Babita had no right to burn the letter ashok send for mini. 

I know ashok was a very bad father but after all he was a father and when he genuinely tried to show concern for mini babita hijacked mini and mini always felt that void for her father in her life.

 In fact this is the most difficult thing for divorcee children. They always miss the complete love and care of their parents. 

Mini was victim of this and it was very heartbroken to see mini in this state.

5. Arya, Mini and Neel: A Different Kind of Family

Now in last coming to arya mini and neel relationship. 

Yes this can always be successful if treated well.

 This relationship don't have that forceful treatment that he should be your father she should be your mother etc. 

Arya will always be cleared that Mini and Neel and not trying to be her father and mother so she will never feel any dilution or tension in their care. 

She will always see Neel as his caring brother in law guardian same as if you remember Shahrukh Khan was for Kareena Kapoor in KKKG.

 This trio relationship is much more easy and less complex to maintain than hanuman babita and mini. 

Final Thoughts

In last i stop and I say I loved this show and the end was also good that in last mini realised that yes her father was bad very bad but she also somewhat became cruel to him and hurted him by single handedly siding with babita. 

I loved when Neel realised her in last that when a wife becomes a mother than the husband loose his wife to his children and in the 3 the father feel strange to mother and daughter as society never understand father's love for daughter.

 So it was very nice to see Mini's arc coming to a complete circle by realising her life choices and understanding that life is not always one sided 

And I was very happy that Mini ended up with Neel supported her to be with his daughter and also now Arya can always be with her Veer Balika and Prince charming Genie Neel.
