Captain America's Friendship With 10 MCU Characters
Captain Steve Rogers is the first Avenger and the leader of Avengers. We all know the leadership abilities of Steve but today we will see how good is he as a friend and companion.
Let's start
Captain America's Friendship With 10 MCU Characters
1. Thor
Captain America and Thor are basically brothers-in-arms and are always fighting alongside each other. Thor has tons of respect for Captain America and doesn’t even consider him a mortal despite being one.
2. Natasha Romanoff
Captain America was the first person who chose to trust Black Widow, even on his life. He never flirted with her and only saw her as a close friend despite Natasha trying to do otherwise. Ever since they started working with each other, they formed a bond that was unbreakable.
3. Bruce Banner
Bruce Banner was one of the scientists trying to replicate Cap’s super serum. As such, he researched Cap’s life and knows a lot about him. While Bruce Banner may not be as close to Cap as some of the others, he still respects Steve Rogers especially after their first encounter in Avengers (2012) where Steve made him realize that he is more valuable than his alter ego.
Steve Rogers: Word is you can find the cube.
Banner: Is that the only word on me?
Steve Rogers: Only word I care about.
Banner: (takes in all the sentiment.)
4. Clint Barton
Hawkeye is one of Cap’s most loyal followers, he basically went out of retirement just for him. He is the kind of guy who would say: “Stop there, you got me at Captain America-.”
5. James Rhodes
Not friends but certainly part of the family. Colonel Rhodes is a US soldier, he among many others are bound to respect the war propaganda himself, Captain America. Most US soldiers in the Marvel universe grew up inspired by Captain America’s act of heroism in the 40s, Rhodes would undoubtedly be one of those guys.
6. Wanda Maximoff
Captain America was probably the only person that encouraged Wanda to not give up and keep doing what she does after that Lagos fiasco. He knew that she felt lonely and troubled after her brother died which is a feeling that Steve got rid of.
7. Vision
Not much of the friend type but he still admires Captain America.
8. Sam Wilson
Sam Wilson is the a soldier who went from being a retired soldier to meeting Captain America, befriending him, earning his trust, get the chance working alongside him and becoming one of his greatest allies. Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers are pretty close friends, i mean to a point where Cap passed on his mantle to him.
9. Bucky Barnes
Do we really even need to talk about Bucky? I think not.
They are best friends and their bond is strong enough to break Hydra’s programming, they trust each other and would gladly give up their life for the other
10. Tony Stark
Was it a sound decision? No, Cap was clearly unfaithful for doing something like that.
Was Captain America being a good friend? Yes, there was no selfish motive behind what he did. He didn’t even know it was specifically Bucky who did killed Stark’s parents until the very end of Civil War. Cap hid the truth with a good intention but he didn’t see the bigger picture and apologized for what he did.
Also, in the end, Cap had no choice but to prevent Tony from killing Bucky. Neither did he want a friend of his to become a murderer nor would he have wanted to see another one die. If he lost respect for Tony, he wouldn’t have let him live, he wouldn’t have dropped his shield when Tony banished him and he wouldn’t refer to Tony as “Earth’s best defender”. If you think what Captain America did in Civil War was selfish, think again. Despite being two sides of the same coin, Steve and Tony have one of the most compelling relationships i’ve ever seen.
Their relationship had its ups and downs but at the end of the day they trust and respect each other
So Tony and Steve are also good friends at least in Endgame.
Conclusion:
I’ve never seen Captain America being a bad friend. Sure, he probably made some questionable decisions but not in the intention of hurting anybody. That’s what makes him a great leader, he isn’t like a tyrannical figure who wouldn’t want to make friends with his allies and have no empathy for them. This is probably why he’s so comfortable with speaking to new members of the Avengers.
